It's All About That Cheese!
It’s National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day!
How do you like yours? Is there a certain cheese? Monterey Jack? Colby? Cheddar? American? Velveeta? Gouda? Havarti? Provolone?
And speaking of cheese… do you add one slice or two? Do you grate your cheese or add whole slices?
Do you add tomatoes, bacon, ham or anything else on your grilled cheese sandwiches?
What about the bread? Sourdough? Dark rye? White bread, English muffins, multigrain or pumpernickel?
How about butter? Or is it oil you prefer to grill it in? And if so… what type of oil? Olive oil? Do also drizzle the olive oil on top of the bread?
Are you a single flipper or multiple flipper? Do you press it down with a spatula? Or do you like panini style?
Do you cut it diagonally, in half or quarters, or do you eat it whole? And is the gooey, yummy, melted cheese center saved for last as you eat all of the crust first?
Do you pair your grilled cheese sandwich with soup? If so, is it tomato soup? Or do you add chips on the side of your plate?
So many questions! Tell me! Please tell me!
However, you create your grilled cheese sandwich clearly is up to you. And you can see that there is definitely variety in doing so. I am just glad to know that I am not alone in loving this comfort food!
Happy National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day!
I LOVE grilled cheese! These days I have mine on whole wheat bread with 2 slices of cheese, bacon, and onions! I cook mine with plenty of butter ( for my cholesterol) until the cheese is melted. Usually I flatten it out with a spatula. Happy Grilled Cheese Day!
Onions Devonne! I totally forgot about onions! I love onions too! Now I will have to try adding onions (caramelized perhaps) to my grilled cheese sandwiches! Thanks for the tip!
Too cute!
Thank you Brooklyn! I love that you love reading my blogs! Now go make a grilled cheese sandwich! LOL
Seeing Sammy devour his grilled cheese sandwich, makes me want one. I use a pat of butter, two slices of cheese on bread and flip it a few times until I see the cheese oozing out. In honor of National Grilled Cheese Day, I may have one for lunch.
That too sounds delicious Gloria! “National Grilled Cheese Day” should be EVERYDAY! LOL
